Now that it is quickly passing, here’s a list of the projects that I want to get done this summer. These aren’t in any kind of priority order, nor is it an exhaustive list of projects.
I figure that by posting it here I can hold myself accountable for getting things done.
- Expand the “perspective scouts” section of the site.
- Improve the online treesale sign-up.
- Create a “My Tay House” area for site management, etc.
- Improve calendar, news apps.
- Build new mailing list app.
- Convert old pages to new design.
- Clean up site, remove pages no longer linked/needed.
- Finish event scheduling app.
- Create events email creation tool.
- Finalize new design and start implementing.
- Write new content to reflect new directions for business.
- Create/find a CMS for the site (ora psudo-CMS for now).
- Market myself.
- Work on workshop and code examples.
General
- Experiment with Yahoo User Interface (YUI) components.
- Experiment with CakePHP or other PHP-based RAD frameworks
- Learn Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
Master’s Degree
- Come up with a topic for my Capstone project.
Yes, this list is ambitious. No, I probably won’t get to it all this summer. Yes, I still have to work 40 hours/week in addition to all of this. No, I am not insane…well, maybe I am.
